Cabrillo Monument is located at the southern tip of Point Loma, and is part of the National Park Service. There is a minimal entry fee, of $5 per vehicle, and the main area of the park has a Visitor Center with info, exhibits, films, and a bookstore. This is also where the Cabrillo Statue is, as well as the Old Point Loma Lighthouse. From the area right around the visitor center there are spectacular views of Coronado, downtown San Diego, the Pacific Ocean, San Diego Bay, and the surrounding areas and mountains, even down to Mexico. You can drive down from the Visitor Center to an area of where you can explore tidepools as well. There is some short walking areas, and is also a longer hiking trail, which is about 2 miles round trip.
