Escondido is a city of about 130,000 located in northern San Diego county. It is about 15 miles from the coast, and 30 miles northeast of the city of San Diego. It is also about 100 miles south of Los Angeles. Average daily temperatures don't fall much below 70F in the winter months, and reach near 90F in the summer. This weather along with its location in a valley make it a major producer of avocado and citrus.

Several attractions in Escondido are the San Diego Wild Animal Park and the California Center for the Arts.
