Stonewall Peak is located in Cuyamaca Rancho State Park. At 5730 feet, it is one of the most popular peaks in the park. The quickest route to the top is by parking in the Paso Picacho Campground day parking lot off of Highway 79, for a fee of $6. From there the trailhead is across the street, you can't miss it. It is about a 4 mile hike round trip to the top. It is a moderate hike, nothing serious, but for those used to flat walking, it may be more difficult. Most of the way up it is switchbacks, but once you get to the top the view is rewarding.
Since the 2003 Cedar Fire most of the tree cover is gone, so it is mostly a sunny hike, but the trail to the top is still intact and well marked.
