Point Loma is a neighborhood in San Diego, California. It is located west of downtown San Diego and San Diego Bay, between the bay and the Pacific Ocean. It is a peninsula which shelters the bay, as well as Coronado. The area is partly residential, and also is home to some military and navy facilities. Due to its location, sheltering the bay, Coronado, and downtown, it is a strategic military location, and it is also home to an old historic lighthouse and was a lookout point in early days, for natives, early explorers, and military.
