Reno, "the biggest little city in the world", is located near the California Nevada border. It is known for it casinos, and in fact at one time it was the gambling capital of the world, however the title has been taken over by another Nevada city, Las Vegas, and now Reno is a distant second in that category. Reno is a city of 180,000 people, located on the eastern edge of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and the western edge of the Great Basin.
In addition to its casinos, Reno is also a place to go for outdoor activities. Lake Tahoe is 45 minutes to the south, and the east entrances of Yosemite are an hour and a half south. The Truckee River is also a place for rafting and kayaking.
