Atlantic City - Facts and Travel Information
Note: This page is similar to wiki, which means you can edit the content.

Atlantic City is located on Absecon Island, right off the coast of southern New Jersey, and it is primarily a resort town; in fact it is one of America's oldest seaside resorts. In the late 1970s the city approved casino gambling in an effort to revitalize the city, which is how present day Atlantic City came to become the east coast's answer to Las Vegas, although on a much smaller scale.

Although it remains a fairly small city, with a population of only around 40,000 people, it is somewhat of a weekend gambler's getaway for people on the east coast, especially the nearby cities of New York and Philadelphia.

Even though Atlantic City is an technically an island, it is accessible via road, and by train from both Philadelphia and New York City.
