New York City is the most populous city in the United States (about 8 million), and the second in North America behind Mexico City. Although most people probably think of Manhattan when they think of New York, the city is comprised of five burroughs (in addition to Manhattan; Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and the Bronx), located on several peninsulas and islands, tucked in between Connecticut, New Jersey, the rest of New York State, and the Long Island Sound (an inlet of the Atlantic Ocean).

It is hard to explain New York City in a few short sentences. It really has much of everything, it is a major financial center for the United States, with the New York Stock Exchange, there are many world renowned museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, there are famous landmarks and buildings, prestigious colleges and universities, bars, restaurants, hotels, and the list goes on.

Getting to New York City is easy, it is served by to major airports, JFK and LaGuardia. Also, the public transportation in the city is very good, and you can get most places in the burroughs by subway, bus or train.
