Antarctica is the continent located mostly south of the Antarctic circle. It is a place which has no indigenous people, and is mostly inhabitable, consisting of 98% continental ice sheet, and 2% barren rock. There are research stations located on the continent, which have been set up by 26 different countries. Although some countries have made territorial claims, they are not universally recognized.
