Tasmania is an island and Australian state located 150 miles (240 km) southwest of Australia. It is separted from Australia by the Bass Strait. Tasmania has a population of about 470,000, and its capital city of Hobart has a population of 195,000.

On the island of Tasmania there are 18 national parks, and much of the land is wild, including areas of mountains, forests, and great coastline. With an average summer temperature around 70F (21C) and some of the world's cleanest air, the state of Tasmania is very welcoming, offering lovely landscapes, friendly people, and great food and wine.

One thing to note if you are traveling in Tasmania is that there are no trains.
