Alps - Facts and Visitor Information
Note: This page is similar to wiki, which means you can edit the content.
The Alps are a mountain range that stretch across much of Europe. They run from France in the west to Austria and Slovenia in the east. They span many countries, and are often divided into the Western Alps (France, Switzerland, Italy) and the Eastern Alps (Austria, Slovenia, Liechtenstein, Italy, Germany), being divided along the Rhine River. Sometimes the Eastern Alps are further subdivided according to geological composition.
Some of the most famous peaks in the Alps are the Matterhorn (located more specifically in the Swiss Alps) and Mont Blanc, which is the highest at 4810 meters, located on the French and Italian border.
