Tuscany (Toscana) is one of the best known provinces in Italy, and is known for its beauty. When people think of Tuscany, the first things that might come to mind are the Italian Renaissance, or great food and wine, and it even evokes images of vineyards and picturesque hills, and relaxing under the sun.
The province of Tuscany is located in north central Italy on the Mediterranean. Some of the most well known cities are the capital city of of Florence, Pisa, Lucca, and Siena. There is much to do in each of these cities, and there are historic areas where you can wander for hours. Throughout the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, Tuscany was a center of learning and the arts, especially in Florence.
