The Netherlands is a country in Europe, located east across the North Sea from the United Kingdom, and bordered on the west by Germany, and on the south by Belgium. Many people confuse it with Holland, and the two names are often used to mean the same place, though technically Netherlands is the country, and Holland is a region within the country. People from the Netherlands are called "Dutch".

With a population of over 16 million, the Netherlands is one of the most densely populated places in the world. It is often known as a place with tolerance towards drugs and prostitution, although it has much more to offer, including its capital city Amsterdam. Some other major cities in the Netherlands are Rotterdam, Utrecht, and also the seat of the government known as The Hague.

One of the larger airports in Europe, Schiphol Airport, is located near Amsterdam. From the airport the are rail systems connecting to major cities. If coming from the UK, there is the option of taking a ferry as well. For getting around in the country there is a pretty good train system running throughout.
