I spent this past weekend in Vegas. Rather than fly, We opted to drive out from San Diego. To try to avoid some of the holiday traffic, we didn't leave until Saturday morning. There was some traffic but it wasn't too terribly bad.

All weekend the Strip was very busy, and walking was kind of a pain in the ass because so many people were out. However the weather was great, probably around 90, which is good for in Vegas.

We stayed at the Luxor, which was great, my only complaint is that it is too far from everything. If you are familiar with Vegas, you know that Bellagio is near the middle of the strip, and Luxor is second from the end. Although you look and think, "only three or four buildings away", that's certainly not the case, as the places are so enormous that 4 buildings away is probably close to a mile. If you stay at Luxor or Mandalay Bay, one of the secrets is to take the free tram that runs, however that will only get you so far (to Excalibur to be exact). I saw in one of the brochures that there is a free trolley or something running the entire Strip, but didn't quite find it. If you are familiar with it and its pickup points, please share.

If you are looking for location location location, Luxor doens't get my vote, but it is a great resort. My vote for best location and affordable still goes to Ballys, it's nothing special compared to some of the other places, but it's got a great location and is cheaper than most of the surrounding resorts.

As for what we did, we didn't do nearly as much as we had hoped to. We did however see Mystere. It was kind of weird, but very interesting, and the performers were amazing.

The rest of the weekend we kind of just hung out, went to the pool, had dinner, relaxed. Net time we want to go on a non-holiday weekend though so we don't have to deal with all the crowds.
