| On the 12th my fiance and I took the Amtrak from San Diego to Santa Barbara. It was the first time on the train for both of us, but it was well worth it. The trip is about 5 1/2 hours, and the train stops frequently, and has about a 20 minute stop over in LA. Arriving at the Santa Barbara station is convenient, as you are only a block or two from the beach, and right next to the main downtown street, State Street, where you can find a wide variety of restaurants, cafes, shops, bars, and the like. We stayed at Hotel Andalucia, which was an absolutely beautiful place. We left Sunday afternoon to head back to San Diego, and hopping on the train is much easier than having to deal with 5 hours of traffic. Both of us would highly recommend the train, and Santa Barbara as well. It was my first time there, and I was amazed at how nice the area was, and also how immaculately clean everything was. |
